Tuesday 11th September 2018

Well done to the Year 4 and Year 5 children who represented our school at the Cross Country event at Thurstonland First School. You were great representatives for our school! One of our Year 5 runners even qualified to the next round at Newsome High School.

A huge well done to our Years 2 and 3 children who took part in the Cross Country event at Shepley First School. It was a very popular event across the Shelley Pyramid and you did yourselves and our school proud! We had a record number of runners representing our school and we were so pleased to see so many children taking part and having a go at something new! Again we had one of our Year 3 runners qualify to the next round at Newsome High School!

Another successful Cross Country event for Kirkburton First School. Two of our children who had previously qualified took part in the second round of the School Games Cross Country at Newsome High School. Both girls did a fantastic job, finishing with a 1st place and 4th place position for their races, meaning they both now qualify for the Kirklees Finals! Well done girls!

Tuesday 2nd October 2018

On Tuesday 3rd October, 10 girls from across Key Stage 2 took part in a girls football festival at Shelley College. This was the first time these girls had played together as a team and they worked well together and showed great respect to the other teams in the competition. At one point our team were even clapping for the other teams when they scored against us. A true display of great sportsmanship! Overall they came 6th out of 7 teams. Well done to all involved.

The girls were also showcasing our new school Football kits, courtesy of Premier League Primary Stars. Our thanks go to the Premier League for supplying us with this new kit!

Today was the Kirklees Cross Country Finals, taking place at Leeds Road Playing Fields. Well done to Annabelle for getting through to this stage of the competition; this alone is a fantastic achievement. To make it even more amazing, Annabelle finished 3rd for her age group. She has now qualified for the West Yorkshire Finals to represent our school. Keep up the great work Annabelle!

(Unfortunatley Maya was unable to take part in the Kirklees Final due to the Year 5 residential. However it was a great achievement to have qualified for this event. Congratulations to Maya as well!)

Today 12 children from KS1 took part in an Indoor Athletics event at Shelley College. They competed in both track and field events and all performed incredibly well. They worked well together as a team and were very supportive of each other. It was great to see them all having a go at trying something new and entering into the events with such a positive attitude. Overall we came 4th out of 8. Well done to all involved!
